[3A_PL01] The Transition of Maritime Education and Training: Upbringing Maritime Officers and Engineers in Kobe
The Fukae campus of Kobe University started as the private Kawasaki Merchant Ship School established in March, 1918. This school was contributed to the nation two years later and was promoted to Kobe High Merchant Ship School. Thereafter a large number of maritime officers and engineers played an active part in the marine transportation industry of Japan and contributed to the development of the country. Afterwards, a course that studies atomic energy was founded in 1972 at Kobe University of Mercantile Marine, and the education of atomic engineers who can play an active part in the field of atomic energy began. The marine transportation is one of the most important industries of Japan. An education of maritime officers and engineers in Kobe for the first century will be talked about.
