In this project, we are developing an original technology to coat alumina onto SiC, but there are few examples of evaluating the integrity of the ceramics coating itself under multi-axial stress loading. In this study, in-situ observation of fracture was carried out using ring-on-ring test technique and strain was evaluated by digital image correlation method. In this presentation, we will propose a method to evaluate the strength of SiC coatings coated on graphite and discuss the effectiveness of the method with the obtained data of the coating strength.
