The SiC samples were exposed to hydrogen at various temperatures. The unpaired electron density of the hydrogen-exposed SiC samples was measured by electron spin resonance (ESR). It was found that the unpaired electron density of SiC samples decreased with hydrogen exposure above 600°C. The autoclave test was also performed on each sample. Then, the surface of the samples was observed using SEM. As a result, it was found that the corrosion of the samples exposed to hydrogen was suppressed compared to the samples not exposed to hydrogen. These results suggest that the corrosion resistance of SiC can be improved by terminating the unpaired electrons with hydrogen.
