Farmlands in urbanization promotion areas are being reconsidered for reservation in multiple policies. In this study, we focused on farmland conversion in terms of public transport convenience and demographic structure. We found that the conversion rate of farmlands to apartment buildings was high in areas with low transportation accessibility. The case study indicates that the conversion of farmlands in the area outside walking distance from the nearest railway station to a residential area led to an increase in the population and the number of families with children. Additionally, areas converted to apartment buildings increased the number of families with preschool children. On the other hand, the influence of farmland conversion on population by generation is limited in the wider area outside the walking distance radius.
