This study examines the land use system in land zone under the Danish Planning Law and amendments to the Law, which was revised in June 2017. According to the Law, land zones are zones other than urban or summer cottage zones, and their development requires a “land zone permit.” In the 2017 revision to the Law, development permission in land zones was deregulated, and the concept of a conversion village was introduced. This concept was put forth to make the land zones more attractive to live in. Development is not expected in a conversion village; rather, it is intended to be a sustainable village. Therefore, a new, different system that is formulated for development is necessary.
