[22] Study on Evaluation of Urbanization Promotion Area from Transition of Traffic Convenience

This study aims to understand how much public transportation has been secured for Urbanization Promotion Area based on Article 8, Paragraph 1, Item 2 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the City Planning Act and to give suggestions on the way of public transportation in the area.
For 6 case study cities, we reproduce the expansion situation of the Urbanization Promotion Area and the transition of the public transportation network and understand through interviews the reason why the area without public transportation is designated as the Urbanization Promotion Area. As a result, we show that the designation of Urbanization Promotion Area in each city has not depended solely on the conditions of public transport network, and suggest that transportation nodes such as bus terminals should be properly established at suburban areas to treat the population growth and the change of urban function.
