[68] Feasibility of Biomass Energy Use Considering Economic Factors and CO2 Reduction in the Island
Evaluating the scenarios in Omishima of Seto Inland Sea
Keywords:Wooody biomass energy, Seto Inland Sea, Cost, CO2 emission, Renewable energy
There are many environmental ploblems in the world. Besides, islands in Japan must confront some local difficulties attributable to the decrease and aging on their population. However, islands of the Seto Inland Sea have rich natural resources, mild climate, and vast farmland areas. For that reason, they have high potential for renewable energy use. Woody biomass is especially paid attention because it has the effect of carbon-neutral and local economy supports. However, it has to be considered the CO2 emission in the heat-utilization process. In addition, initial cost become a problem in the introduction of woody biomass. Thus, this study aims to assess the possibility of using it by evaluating scenarios considering the economic factors and CO2 reduction in Omishima island of Seto Inland Sea.
