[102] A Study on the Conditions and Efforts of the Public Housing Densely Inhabited by Foreigners

Recently, the number of foreigners is rapidly increasing in Japan and the trend is more likely to continue. There are many public housing densely inhabited by foreigners due to difficulties of finding housing. This paper aims to analyze conditions and efforts in such public housing. It finds out there are 110 public housing densely inhabited by foreigners, by analyzing the small area data of the National Population Census in 2015 in Japan. Then, by conducting a questionnaire survey of 118 managers of 110 public housing, it finds out the tendencies and characteristics of public housing. Finally, it investigates the residence condition, problems as well as the measures to solve problems in such public housing.
