Kobe experienced significant earthquake in 1995. On the other hand, from later 1990s, Japanese urban area increased their population as “Urban Core Revival”. At that time, apartment buildings highly contributed to the trends. The purposes of this study are to evaluate 1) long-term demographics in post-disaster urban area in Kobe, 2) the relationship between building damages and high-rise apartment development, and 3) contribution of high-rise apartment development to post-disaster demographics in urban core area. For these purpose, this study does statistical analysis between building damages, high-rise apartment development and demographics (population size and population structure). This study clarified that urban core areas proceeded population increasing and rejuvenation in long-term, and earthquake damages and high-rise apartment development related to the trends. These results indicate that in long-term, earthquake damages and demographic trends at the time interact with each other and we need to plan reconstruction projects based on the trends.
