[137] A Study on Urban Form for Increasing Public Transportation Level of Service and its Usage Ratio

The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between urban form and level of public transportation service and its usage ratio, which population density indicator could not be capture the characteristics. We define urban form indicator as a ratio of urban district perimeter to circle's perimeter which area is same to the urban district area. In consequence, urban form indicator have an influence on level of public transportation service and its usage ratio, because the number of public transportation route varies depending on urban form. Therefore, we would be able to raise level of public transportation service and its usage ratio by distorting shape of urban area. Moreover, we clarified through case study that it is possible to distorting shape of urban area by using existing institution.
