[145] Historical Study on Establishment of Tiexi Industrial Area Mukden

This study clarified the process of the establishment of Tiexi Industrial Area which was an important urban planning project conducted at the beginning of Manchukuo Period under Manchukuo official outline for economic development and became one of the most influential industrial areas in China even after World War II. Tiexi Industrial Area, as a part of the extension plan by South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd., started from a textile factory located on the west of South Manchuria Railway Zone in Mukden. After Mukden Incident in 1931, it failed to be a portion of railway zone but became controlled by a new established real estate company “Mukden Industrial Site Co., Ltd.” instead. Invested by both South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. and Mukden Government, this company was responsible for most regional affairs from land lending to urban planning.
