[15] Evaluation Method of Public Transportation Network Performance Considering Connectivity of Timetables
Keywords:public urban transportation, accessibility, time-space network, urban structure, route network configuration
Rising maintenance costs and aging and shrinking population requires the compact and networked urban structure via public transportation system. It is necessary to understand the current performance of the public transportation system considering not only the cover ratio but also the rapidity to support the travel demands considering timetable. Many local governments, however, consider only the cover ratio. This study aims to evaluate the convenience of the public transportation network for daily travel demands by constructing a time-space network. First, the mean travel speed captures the degree of the match between the travel demands and the line shape. Second, the waiting time ratio quantifies travel time loss caused by the connectivity of public transportation. Third, we suggest the improvement direction for improving the convenience of daily travel via public transportation.
