[55] Analysis of the Influence of Public Transportations Services on Visitors’ Activity Spaces in the Central Area of the City

This study aims to analyze the influence of public transportation services on visitors’ activity spaces in the central area of Kobe City, using GPS trajectory data. We first show the differences in the indices such as number of visiting places and time spent at visiting places, travel distance and time, and also in spatial distributions of travel routes and visiting places by visitors’ combined travel modes. Next, we measure spread of individuals’ activity locations using second moment index, and clarify their characteristic by visitors’ combined travel modes. Consequently, public transportation services contribute to expand visitors’ activity spaces in the central area and loop bus service is particularly effective to the elderly.
