[94] Optimal Ratio for Renovating Historic Architectures into Profit-making Facilities with Conservation
Case study based on Kyoto city's ordinance on historic architectures
Keywords:Historic architecture, Architecture conservation, Renovation, Conversion, Profit-making facilities, Mathematical analysis
In recent years, the method of renovating historic architectures into profit-making facilities becomes one of the major strategies in conservation. In order to make this strategy sustainable, it is helpful to examine the underlying structure, such as profit characteristics. This study proposes a decision model to analyze the optimal ratio for renovating historic architectures into profit-making facilities. An extended model is applied to seven historic architectures that Kyoto city's ordinance covers. This case study illustrates not only common parameters between examples but also different circumstances of each architecture.
