Kanazawa is originated from castle town developed on the unique topography generated by Sai and Asano Rivers, and designated as Cultural Landscape. The land-use along the river in the castle town period and at the today were examined and it becomes clear that the present land use developed in the modernization is affected by the land-use and spatial composition of the castle town layered. Responding to the disincentive to the riverside landscape becoming apparent recently, the ordinance of the riverine landscape conservation has been implemented. The review of this landscape rules in the context of the cultural landscape value suggests the necessity of the appropriate interpretation of the qualitative regulation is necessary to develop the landscape that inherit the historic spatial layer.
