[4] Study on the countermeasures to urban heat of street space focusing on walking routes
For the walkable area around Fukuyama Station
Keywords:Urban warming, Walkable area, Temperature survey, Pedestrian volume, Walking route, THERMO Render
This study investigated thermal environment and pedestrian volume in the walkable area around Fukuyama Station by field survey. Several route scenarios from Fukuyama Station to Central Park were also created, and these are compared and evaluated from the perspective of thermal comfort using numerical calculations. A model to improve thermal environment were created in addition and effect of introduction are evaluated. As results, the lower temperatures were observed in the shadows of buildings, awnings, arcades, and trees, which blocked the sun. MRT also decreased in shaded spaces as well as air temperature, and thermal comfort was higher on routes that passed through many shaded spaces of mid- and high-rise buildings. Awnings were more effective to improve thermal environment in this study, and we proposed a city model using ones and in accordance with the actual conditions of use.
