[44] Research on the process of enactment of the Shiku-Kaisei Urban Improvement of Taipei under Japanese Rule

This study examined the process of enactment of the Shiku-Kaisei Urban Improvement of Taipei under Japanese rule. The Shiku-Kaisei Urban Improvement of Taipei was systematized in the form of first formulating the Urban Improvement Plans and then implementing the construction in accordance with the plan. This was a systematization of urban development based on William kinninmond Burton's opinion. The systematization started with the 3rd Plan, when the Urban Improvement Plan was institutionalized, and was completed with the 5th Plan. This study concluded that it is appropriate to view the 2nd Plan through the 5th Plan as a process of systematization of the Shiku-Kaisei Urban Improvement of Taipei.
