Keywords:hilly and mountainous area, Fujino, city of arts, immigration, immigration motivation, local community
This study systematically organizes the development of an artistic town that has been evolving for over 30 years, focusing on the Fujino district of Midori-Ward, Sagamihara City, which has recently seen a rise in population. The study categorizes the progression of artistic town development, shifting from municipality-led initiatives to community-driven approaches. Through surveys and interviews, it uncovers factors that have influenced migrants' decisions to relocate, confirming that preserved nature and the Steiner School are the primary drivers. Furthermore, the study notes that while artistic town development does impact those who consider preserved nature a decisive factor for relocation, it has limited influence on individuals who prioritize the Steiner School. Thus, it becomes evident that artistic town development has a confined impact on relocation motives, as it affects specific aspects of migrants' decisions.
