[80] Distance-related distribution with turn regulations in ring-radial networks
Keywords:disk city, ring-radial networks, left/right turn regulation
In a city consisting of radial and ring networks, the introduction of a right or left turn regulation increases the round-trip distance for commuters. Due to the regulation, commuters travel the outer ring road on their way to work or home. In this study, we compute the distribution of distance and traffic load density for the outer ring network routing in a disk city with dense ring and radial networks. We also compute the distribution of the difference in distance between outer and inner ring network routings. There are two types in the outer ring network routing, whether we consider symmetry with the inner ring network routing or not. We find that the distance distribution differs significantly between the two types of outer routing, and that combining them is effective in terms of increasing the total distance and traffic load at the center.
