[122] A Study on Walkable Index for the Evaluation of Waterway Scenery in Castle Town

The city center of Yanagawa is making use of the canal structure derived from the castle town and is working on urban development aimed at improving mobility as a Walkable Promotion City. In this research, we used the Space Syntax theory to analyze the relationship between the waterways surrounding the target area and the back roads, constructing indicators that make walking enjoyable from the tourist's point of view, and analyzing the relationship with the back roads. Furthermore, based on the constructed indicators, the subject streets were analyzed in clusters and divided into 16 landscape types, and the impression evaluation by the SD method was used to understand the landscape elements that pedestrians pay attention to.
