Due to the global uncertainties and travel restrictions caused by COVID-19 pandemic, the APSORC-IC has made the very difficult decision to postpone the APSORC 2022 to 2025 in Japan.
Although we have been preparing for APSORC 2022, the COVID-19 situation in Japan is still serious. In particular, the border control measures of the Japanese government are still strict at present except for business and overseas study purposes, making entry for international visitors not easy. Every international visitor must apply for a visa, requiring a direct application to their respective Japanese embassies. In particular, our colleagues in China and South Korea, who will be main foreign participants of APSORC, suggested to us that entry to Japan by September would be difficult for them. If we hold APSORC in 2022, we think that the conference must be held at least in hybrid mode or in a completely online mode.
After two years of experience with COVID-19, we strongly wish to hold the conference onsite rather than in online or hybrid modes. We think that onsite conferences are important for younger scientists in particular. They can experience discussions face-to-face with many people from all over the world during the conference period, which is not easy to do through an online system.
Thus, we would like to postpone the conference to 2025 by following original circulation of APSORC, 4 years from original date (= 2021) of 7th APSORC), which has been approved by the International Committee of APSORC.
We are still very much looking forward to welcoming you in Japan, and we wish you all the best of health.
