This symposium is aimed to discuss the recent advance in research and clinical management of brain malformation, which is a major challenge in pediatric neurology, with broad audience of pediatric neurologists and pediatricians. Dr. Richards will talk on molecular mechanism of brain malformation as a keynote speaker. As the first speaker in the symposium, she will cover the fundamental molecular mechanism underlying brain malformation as well as cutting edge recent advances in the rapidly progressing brain science. Following her keynote lecture, Dr. Mochida will talk on classification and diagnosis of brain malformation mainly from the clinical point of view. Dr. Takanashi will talk on neuroimaging of brain malformation, and Dr. Kato as the last speaker will address perspective of treatment of brain malformation based on its etiology. We hope that the audience will learn from this symposium about growing knowledge of brain malformation from basic science to clinical management.
