[1AW01] How to maintain the database that works?

Wed. Dec 6, 2017 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Room 1 (Kobe Portopia Hotel, Main Bldg., B1F, Kairaku 1)

Organizer:Takeya Kasukawa(RIKEN), Organizer:Hidemasa Bono(Database Center for Life Science)

The recent trend of open-data and open-science enforces the importance of public databases (DBs) in biomedical studies. For example, the advent of data journals and preprint servers assigns new roles to public DBs, in which our own data will be presented and evaluated. Meanwhile, DB has many unsolved issues, such as, missing necessary information (QC and metadata) to ensure reproducibility and lacking enough resources for maintenance and improvement. In this workshop, we invite many stakeholders including granting agencies, data providers, database users as well as database maintainers, and discuss how we can solve and improve the environment of the biomedical database field.
