[331] Sunamp Limited

Sunamp designs, develops and manufactures compact, highly efficient thermal energy storage technology called ‘Heat Batteries’ that can be used to store heat for later use. Sunamp heat batteries are modular, scalable devices comprising insulated containment, with a heat exchanger immersed in our own phase change material (PCM) suitable for a particular application. Sunamp’s high density PCMs range from -30C to around +600C.
IC engines are less efficient in the cold start phase and more than 60% of the energy is wasted to the engine coolant or the environment through the exhaust pipe. The challenge for electric vehicles is range consistency in cold and hot conditions. The thermal demand on the traction batteries can reduce vehicle range by more than 40%.
Our vehicle systems typically comprise of heat batteries, valves, pumps and electronic control systems that are integrated into coolant circuits where they absorb heat from the flowing coolant and return it later when needed. In EV applications we also make heat for later using integrated electric heaters in our devices. We can also improve the efficiency of EV air conditioning systems by integrating a cold battery into the refrigeration circuit
