世話人よりハイライトの紹介：都市発達は河川河口域の平野部や盆地であることが多い．これは，インフラ整備や都市の拡張が容易である広い平坦な地域は利便性が高いためであるが，一方で都市域にみられる特徴的な災害（内水氾濫や液状化，地盤沈下など）の発生もあり課題が多い．これらの課題に対しては，関連学問の融合が必要であり，地質学と工学（土木工学，地盤工学，地震工学，間接工学など）の相互理解によって都市の諸問題は解決される．発表では，都市地質学の課題と今後の課題について述べられる．※ハイライトとは

世話人よりハイライトの紹介：人間の生活の中で必要な施設の1つである産業廃棄物最終処分場は，急傾斜地崩壊危険区域，砂防指定地，地すべり防止区域などを含まないなどの制約がある一方で，施設によって影響を受ける可能性が高い地下水などの水環境については十分に考慮されているとは言い難い．特に自然災害（台風，豪雨，地震など）の際にも安心して運用できることは重要事項であるが，現時点では問題点も多い．発表では，このような施設についての個々の地質環境や問題点を抽出する．まさに都市部で発生する地質問題ついて発表される．※ハイライトとは
