[S26-2-04] An attempt to relate heat flow density, gravity, magnetic, geoid, elevation and seismic data in the SW of the Iberian Peninsula trying to obtain lithosphere thickness and information related with African and Iberian plate borders
The region on study is located in the SW part of the Iberian Peninsula. Het flow density data obtained in the region was considered anomalously elevated taking into account the other data obtained in the region. Gravity and magnetic anomalies were known in the region but their existence was related with ore deposits considered the sources of the anomalies. Iberian maps of physical properties like gravity anomalies, geoid anomalies, elevation data and heat flow density values, shows clearly the anomalies obtained in the region. New data and seismic models including the region shows some features never before detected. One of the main problems detected is related with lithosphere thickness obtained with seismic data and the values obtained with elevation, geoid and gravity data, using heat flow values to obtain temperature and considering isostatic equilibrium. In our work we use new data related with new density values and seismic results obtained recently, using receiver functions. A study make to obtain information about crustal structure in Algarve Basin is also used to make connections with heat flow density and thermal data in the region. Our main objective is to obtain information related with crustal type and depth and also lithosphere thickness in the region. The results show that the lithosphere and crustal structure in the region is not so simple as it was thought a few years ago.
