Keywords:Slickenside, Microstructure, Fault strength, Frictional coefficient

To understand the microstructural characterization of slickenside and its effect on the fault behavior, we studied the microstructures of natural samples, and conducted the frictional experiments using limestone sample. One of the most important results is that the slickenside is caused by deformation concentration on the top surface of the fault within 50-100 um thickness during faulting. And the other is that the fault having slickenside probably causes the creep behavior.
