[7] Numerical Simulation of Convective Boundary Layer by Ideal WRF-LES
Keywords:WRF-LES, Convective Boundary Layer, Wind Fluctuation
For mesoscale meteorology and wind engineering research, due to the scale difference and the fluid characteristics difference, different numerical methods are adopted. Between the scale of tens of kilometers for mesoscale meteorology and the scale of less than meters for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) has developed a module dealing with scale of tens of meters with Large Eddy Simulation (LES) approach, named as WRF-LES. We employed WRF-LES under Convective Boundary Layer (CBL) condition in an idealized boundary condition to explore the model performance mainly focusing on the producing of fluctuation of wind velocity. The simulation is conducted in a comparative long time so that the boundary layer could develop sufficiently. The results show that 30 m grid resolution case can generate wind velocity with more high frequency fluctuation than 50 m grids resolution case.
