[2137] Evaluation of Diagonal Compression Strut of Masonry Infill in RC Frames Based on Experimental Investigation
Keywords:Compression strut width, Masonry infill, Quasi-cyclic loading, Reinforced concrete
Reinforced concrete buildings with masonry infills are widely used structural system in many countries in the world. Modelling of masonry infill using an equivalent strut model is a recommended procedure in several design codes and past literatures. However, there are significant variations in estimating the strut characteristics in past literatures that cause confusion for design practicing engineers. Therefore, the strut width of the infill is first investigated based on the experiment results of five 1/2 scaled specimens of RC frame with masonry infill. Appropriate strut width is then discussed based on comparative study with previous experiments and several proposed methods in past literatures.
