[2085] Influence of Corrosion on Prestressing Force of Corroded PC Steel Strands in PC beams

This paper investigates the effect of corrosion on deterioration of prestressing force of PC strand. A rigid frame testing machine combined with an electrically accelerated corrosion device was used to test 16 PC steel strands which were subjected to the tensile load of 50% of the tensile strength. The rigid frame testing machine can remain the prestressing force, and the force and deformation were measured continuously during the corrosion test. The comparison with the corroded strands in the PC beams shows that the bond properties could significantly reduce the prestress force loss of PC strand.
