Michael Culler is a co-founder of Rhythm Pharmaceuticals (Cambridge, Massachusetts) and former Vice President of Endocrinology Research for Ipsen. Dr. Culler has led discovery programs in osteoporosis, diabetes, cachexia, obesity, GI motility, and neuroendocrine diseases that have produced multiple compounds that have progressed to clinical development, as well as the key assets for both Rhythm and Radius Pharma. He is author or co-author of over 200 publications and an inventor on 22 patents.
Dr. Culler received his Ph.D. in Endocrine Physiology from Texas A&M University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neuroendocrinology at Tulane University Medical School under the mentorship of Prof. Akira Arimura. During this time, he was a member of the team that discovered and characterized the peptide hormone, PACAP. Before joining industry, Dr. Culler was a staff researcher at the National Institutes of Health for 8 years, where he conducted basic research into hormone pulsatility and neuroendocrine control of reproduction.
