High energy particles produced in space have a wide range of energies. The acceleration mechanisms of such high energy particles are discussed in this session. A variety of nonthermal phenomena are discussed with focusing on wave-particle interactions, relativistic effects, etc. This session is a part of 'plasma astrophysics joint session of the three academic societies'
