[B-GM22_30AM2] Microbial ecology in earth and planetary sciences

Wed. Apr 30, 2014 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM 415 (4F)

Convener:*Michinari Sunamura(University of Tokyo Dept. of Earth & Planetary Science), Keisuke Koba(Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology), Ken Takai(Extremobiosphere Research Center, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science & Technology), Chair:Akira Ijiri(Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), Katsunori Yanagawa(Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science & Technology)

11:00 AM - 11:15 AM

[BGM22-07] From who, where, how many and what to 'Earth science'

*Kato KENJI1 (1.Department of Geosciences, Graduate School of Science, Shziuoka University)

Keywords:14C-glucose uptake vs. 3H-Thymidine uptake, Production vs. Respiration, sec vs. year

Glancing at 50 years' history of aquatic microbial ecology since Wright and Hobbie proposed an uptake kinetics using radiolabeled glucose, I may pose issue(s) of consideration for microbial ecology as an earth science.
