[MIS36-11] In-Situ Observation of Protein Crystal Growth in The International Space Station

Keywords:crystal growth, space experiment, microgravity

In-situ observation of protein crystal growth was conduced at the international space station in 2012. Both growth rate and surface topography of lysotyme crystals vs supersaturation and purity of the solution were measured for the first time by interferometry in space. The differences from groud-base experiments became clear to answer the question "Why better crystal could be grown in space?".
