We provide an opportunity for senior high school students to give their presentations in the conference and to have discussions with them. This session has been presented as a public outreach session since 2006. The JpGU Publicity and Outreach Committee members are conveners of this session.

【概要】
本研究では、岡山県高梁市川上町弥高山付近，津山市付近の新生代新第三紀に形成された地層や地形の研究を行った。その結果、土懸濁液のpHとECを測定する化学分析が新第三紀海成層の判定に有効なことが分かった。また、弥高山火山（仮称）から噴出した玄武岩の全岩K－Ar年代7.57Maと今回の石基と長石から得られたK－Ar年代7.70Maと7.85Maは，測定に用いた試料を考慮すれば，ほぼ同じ時期と見なすことができ、付近の赤色土壌と溶岩、溶岩の転石の分布調査の結果と合わせて、弥高山南側の新第三紀海成層は弥高山溶岩に保護され、それ以降の侵食をある程度まぬがれたことが分かった。
