[PEM09-23] Research and operatoinal activity of NICT space weather

*Mamoru ISHII1 (1.NICT)

Keywords:space weather

ICT has been managing operational space weather forecastsince 1988 as a member of Inernational Space Environment Services (ISES). We provide the space weather forecast information every day including holidays with email and web site, and the number of subscribers is over 9,000.In addition to these operational activity, we have research activities for improving the performance of space weather forecast. We have three research projects, (1)sun and solar wind (2)magnetosphere, and (3)ionosphere with three approaches as follows: observation, simulation and informatics. These activities are progressing under the cooperation with domestic/international organizations which is suitable to the concept of VarSITI. Especially the connection to the operational users of space weather is important but very few institute only works for that including NICT. In this meaning we NICT can contribute to the activity of VarSITI.
