[A-OS23] Marine Ecosystem Modelling

Sun. May 24, 2015 4:15 PM - 6:00 PM 201B (2F)

Convener:*Shin-ichi Ito(Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, The University of Tokyo), Takafumi Hirata(Faculty of Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University), Chair:Takafumi Hirata(Faculty of Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University)

The present marine ecosystem modelling includes mathematical modelling of physiological and ecological processes of a specific organism(s), to integration of these individual process models. Some models cover specific oceanic regions, whereas others global oceans. In addition, not only ecosystem structure itself but also interactions with a surrounding environment may also be taken in to account in some models. Accumulation of scientific advances from these models would give essential understandings on how marine ecosystems function in and vary with environmental changes in our planet. In this session, we aim to share the latest achievements among the marine ecosystem modelling community, to build community consensus of present scientific knowledge obtained by modelling works, and to promote active communication with scientists in other but relevant scientific communities.
