[M-TT05] New phase of GPS/GNSS application as an integrated earth observation system

Wed. May 27, 2015 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM 203 (2F)

Convener:*Yoshinori Shoji(The Second Laboratory of Meteorological Satellite and Observation System Research Department, Meteorological Research Institute), Toshitaka Tsuda(Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere), Teruyuki Kato(Earthquake Prediction Research Center, Earthquake Research Institute, The University of Tokyo), Hiromu Seko(Meteorological Research Institute), Kazutoshi Sato(Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), Chair:Kazutoshi Sato(Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency)

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), like GPS, GLONASS etc. has become a fundamental tool for studies on atmosphere, ionosphere, and solid earth. In Japan GNSS data came to be used for a weather forecast system and a space weather forecast recently, as well as monitoring crustal movements, using nation-wide array. A Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) was launched in 2010 and various technical examinations using this satellite are going to be conducted. In this session, the results of the latest studies using GNSS are welcome. We will share these studies and discuss future plan and possibilities.
