Current status of Japanese S&T system and young scholars
- Evidence from NISTEP Expert Survey on Japanese S&T and Innovation System
National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP), MEXT annually conducts the expert survey on Japanese S&T and innovations system (NISTEP TEITEN survey) in the duration of the fourth S&T basic plan (FY2011 - 2015).
The survey aims to track the status of S&T and innovation system in Japan through the survey to Japanese experts and researchers in universities, public research institutions, and private firms. It asks for respondents' recognitions on the status of the S&T and innovation system, such as diversity in basic research, in Japan and usability of research funds, which is usually difficult to measure through the R&D statistics. The same questionnaire was sent to the same respondents who were selected in the first round.
This presentations will show the status of S&T and innovation system, especially the situation of young scholars, which is observed by the NISTEP TEITEN survey and the summary of the workshop on the TEITEN survey which was held in March 2014.
