Sun. May 22, 2016 5:15 PM - 6:30 PM Poster Hall (International Exhibition Hall HALL6)

Convener:*Hitoshi Nakai(Kobuchisawa Research Institute for Nature and Education), Satoshi Miyajima(Saitama prefectural Fukaya dai-ichi High School), Hiroo Nemoto(J.F.Oberlin University)

Natural disasters, such as massive earthquakes, localized torrential downpour, huge typhoons, and unexpected volcanic eruptions, are raging in Japan. Reckless urban sprawl, and big cities becoming complicated have brought about the new type of disaster. The wisdom to prevent a disaster and to reduce its damage has been accumulated in our country for long years. However, it seems to have been lost from us in the shade of the rapid change of society. An urgent subject imposed now on educational circles is to make a new disaster prevention education by digging oral traditions about local disasters, and employing modern scientific knowledge. We will encourage teachers and researchers to submit papers on the educational programs performed in school, and papers on new educational methods developed in research institutes for the disaster prevention.
