[H-DS07] Monitoring and prediction of natural disasters using new methodologies

Tue. May 24, 2016 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM 101B (1F)

Convener:*Mitsuteru Sato(Department of Cosmoscience, Hokkaido University), Yukihiro Takahashi(Department of Cosmosciences, Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University), Junichi Kurihara(Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University), Chair:Junichi Kurihara(Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University), Yukihiro Takahashi(Department of Cosmosciences, Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University)

The purpose of this session is to discuss the methodology to monitor and predict disasters including extreme weathers, such as torrential rainfall and/or typhoon, based on the continuous and on-demand new methodologies with ground-based and satellite born instruments, such as lightning detection network using radio waves dedicated to the monitoring of thunderstorm activity, micro-satellites with advanced optical sensors and their combinations.
