[M-GI21] Earth and planetary informatics with huge data management

Tue. May 24, 2016 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM A02 (APA HOTEL&RESORT TOKYO BAY MAKUHARI)

Convener:*Ken T. Murata(National Institute of Information and Communications Technology), Susumu Nonogaki(Geological Survey of Japan, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology), Tomoaki Hori(Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University), Eizi TOYODA(Forecast Department, Japan Meteorological Agency), Junya Terazono(The University of Aizu), Mayumi Wakabayashi(Kiso-Jiban Consultants Co.,Ltd), Takeshi Horinouchi(Faculty of Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University), Kazuo Ohtake(Japan Meteorological Agency), Chair:Tomoaki Hori(Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University), Susumu Nonogaki(Geological Survey of Japan, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology)

Increasingly large and complex data is produced by survey, observation, and numerical simulation in earth and planetary sciences.
The target of this session is to discuss a broad range of practices and new knowledges of informatics, international standard and modelling, including techniques for large-volume data processing and numerical simulation, with a vision to advance an emerging data-intensive science "geoplanetary informatics".
