Various types of slow earthquakes, such as slow slip events, low frequency tremor, and very-low-frequency earthquakes have been discovered in multiple tectonic settings in the past decade. Furthermore some slow earthquakes leading up to megathrust earthquakes have been observed near mainshock epicenters. The mechanism of slow earthquakes, and their relationship with megathrust earthquakes is still an open question. This session welcomes contributions on any aspect of the phenomena including observational, theoretical, and experimental studies from various fields that are directed at understanding the nature of slow earthquakes. In particular we strongly encourage interdisciplinary and comprehensive discussions surrounding the future of slow earthquake science
