[S-GL40] Advanced Mud Volcano Studies

Tue. May 24, 2016 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM 302 (3F)

Convener:*Tomohiro Toki(Faculty of Science, University of the Ryukyus), Miho Asada(Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), Akira Ijiri(Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), Sumito Morita(Institute for Geo-Resources and Environment, Geological Survey of Japan, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology), Takeshi Tsuji(International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I2CNER), Kyushu University), Arata Kioka(Department of Earth and Planetary Science, University of Tokyo), Kazuhiro Tanaka(Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Yamaguchi University), Chair:Miho Asada(Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), Tomohiro Toki(Faculty of Science, University of the Ryukyus)

Mud volcanoes have been discovered on land, lake floor and seafloor in the world. The mechanisms are so various that we have to comprehend as many cases as possible. In this session, we are welcome various case studies and reviews about mud volcanic phenomenon in diverse fields with various approaches (geological, geophysical, geochemical, or mathematical studies, etc). Scopes of their relationships to earthquakes, deep-seafloor bioshere, possible utilization for resources, etc., as well as scientific studies on mechanisms of mud volcanoes are also welcome.

11:10 AM - 11:25 AM
