[BCG07-P04] 2D-GC/MS analysis of amino acids as pivaloyl / isopropyl esters: preliminary report

Keywords:Amino acids, 2D-GC/MS analysis, Pivaloyl / isopropyl esters

We review an analytical procedure using 1-dimensional (1D) and 2-dimensional (2D) gas chromatography / mass spectrometry (GC/MS) focusing on precise separations and the corresponding mass spectra of protein and non-protein amino acid derivatives. We used N-pivaloyl isopropyl esters of amino acids to show the summary of retention time and those of mass fragmentation patters [1,2,3]. The present method will be applied into a further description of biogeochemistry of individual amino acid.

Acknowledgement to F. Kabashima (LECO Japan) and M. Sakurai LECO Japan) in terms of the analytical development of multidimensional gas chromatography coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC-TOFMS) analysis.
