[SVC41-P14] Volcanic activity at Asama volcano from the past data
Keywords:Asama volcano, number of erthquakes, type of erthquake, height of volcanic fume (volcanic fume index)
Volcano observation started in Asama volcano from 1911. Among these, we investigated volcanic activity by observational data from 1965 to 1990. In this survey we used the number of earthquakes, the type of earthquake, the height of the volcanic fume (volcanic fume index), volcanic glow and sulfur dioxide emissions (Ohta et la., 1990).
According to it, the eruption of 1973 and the eruption of 1982-1983 were different (Figure1). It is thought that this is due to the difference of eruption style of the magma eruption and the phreatic steam eruption. These results were compared recently (since 2002) eruption case and we will discuss about.
Acknowledgement: We express great thanks Kyushu University to use the sulfur dioxide data of Asama volcano.
