[G05-03] Understanding of disasters and the topography on GSI Maps
Keywords:Geoscience-education GSIMaps disaster topography thematic-map aerial-photograph
The relation between disaster and topography is an important theme to be taken up in geoscience education. In this time, from the viewpoint of understanding about the relation between disasters and the topography, I would like to introduce GSI Maps ('CHIRIIN-CHIZU' in Japanese) and promote the utilization in high school and university education.
GSI Maps is a web map system operated by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI). There are many information and functions useful for knowing disasters. Especially thematic maps and aerial photographs are helpful in understanding disasters.
In the presentation, I would first like to explain the outline of GSI Maps, then I would like to introduce a case study of the relevance between topography and disaster using various information. I think that such a thing will draw interest of the student.
GSI Maps can represent various topographies in various ways, and new functions are added as needed. I would like to introduce examples that might be useful for geoscience education in the future.
