[HDS10-09] Detection of reflected waves in the 2011 Tohoku tsunami using maximum correlation coefficient

*Kuniaki Abe1, Masami Okada (1.none)

Keywords:reflected wave, 2011 Tohoku Tsunami, correlation coefficient

Using maximum of cross-correlation between reflected waves and waves observed at tide stations in the 2011 Tohoku tsunami, arrival of tsunami reflected waves is estimated. As the reflected waves initial parts of tide gage records at 21 assumed reflectors in the Pacific Ocean were used. To the reflected waves tide gauge records observed at 30 stations in the same ocean were examined. Thus, maximum value of the correlation coefficient within the error of predicted travel time are calculated. The values are shown in the time series and geographical maps.
