[HDS11-09] Dammed-lake deposits along the tributary of Kaifu River, southern Tokushima Prefecture, Southwest Japan

Dammed-lake deposits was found along the tributary of Kaifu River, to the west of Murayama, Kaiyo Town, southern Tokushima Prefecture, Southwest Japan. This deposits of more than 2.4 m in thickness is composed of well-lamineted peaty silt and overlain by the modern mudflow deposits. Fossil leaves, nuts and woods showed 14C ages of 6,650 yrs BP. Deep-seated landslide geomorphology is not found now in surrounding valley slopes, but a landslide occurred probably in Early Holocene and dammed up the tributary. Dammed-lake deposits is capable of finding old deep-seated landslides.
