[MIS21-05] Exploring the Past and Future of the ice sheet- climate system

*Ayako Abe-Ouchi1,2,3 (1.Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, The University of Tokyo, 2.JAMSTEC, 3.NIPR)

Keywords:climate, ice sheet, polar region

In this talk, we show the importance of the polar region, which shows the largest sensitivitiy in climate change in the world. We focus on ice sheet changes since it is an indicator of large climate change and sea level change in the past earth history. I will show topics on Polar amplification in the earth history, bipolar seesaw mechanism for millennial-scale abrupt climate changes, and Tipping elements of ice sheet-climate system, which all require strategic research.
